HOPI Full Day Tour Mystical and Mysterious Private Tour It is a great honor and often a past life or spiritual calling to visit the Hopi people. For some, it is a once in a lifetime experience producing glowing memories to be shared with friends and relatives. The name "Hopi" means "peaceful people". Our day together will be a journey back in time. Leaving Sedona, we descend the beautiful winding road through Oak Creek Canyon with its dramatic cliff faces and Oak Creek flowing alongside the road. If the season is Winter, we will glimpse the snow covered San Francisco Peaks, considered sacred to both the Hopi and Navajo people. In all seasons the Peaks will be our welcoming beacon to the desert lands of the indigenous people of Northern Arizona. Along the way, you will learn about the history, stories, myths and traditions of the Hopi. You may want to do some reading on the Hopi yourself, prior to our journey. Hopi consists of three mesas and the areas that surround them. One of our stops at Hopi will be Old Oraibi, the oldest continuously inhabited village in this country, on the Third Mesa. We visit the Cultural Center and Hopi Museum on Second Mesa. Here, we will find excellent examples of Hopi crafts and photographs that offer us with a view of the early 20th Century Hopi way of life. Excellent examples of local crafts are displayed and there are often local craftsmen present to speak about the art they create. Traditional Hopi food including Blue Corn Frybread is served at the restaurant where we will stop for lunch. On First Mesa we will enjoy a Hopi guided tour of Walpi, a village that still adheres to the traditional way of life and customs. Hopi Artisans are available to explain the symbolism of the beautiful handicrafts they produce - you may want to purchase a keepsake here. Depending upon availability, we may visit a local family in their home and have an opportunity to interact with them. Here we will learn a little about the Hopi customs and way of life. A mystical experience awaits you - moving through time into the distant past - learning about this indigenous culture -and gathering your own unique moments.
